Our Relay and Optocoupler Module Products

Controlling Night-Time Marking of Wind Turbines

In the future, wind turbines will only be allowed to flash red when aircraft approaches. This should reduce light emissions. Deutsche Windtechnik Steuerung has developed a transponder-based system to control this on-demand night-time marking (German: BNK; English: ADLS), which includes WAGO technology.

Brief Current Peaks with Fatal Consequences

When lighting systems switch on, significant current spikes occur that can far exceed 100 times the nominal current. Even if this current is only present for a few milliseconds, it can cause the relay contacts to fuse.

Here you’ll learn how our relays work so you can enjoy your system for a long time.

Long Cable Lengths in Large Systems

In this video, you’ll see how sensor signals are transmitted in large systems with long cables through the example of a sewage treatment plant. In this application, WAGO relays with RC base load modules minimize unwanted voltages with low losses. In addition, they make defined switching behavior possible in order to keep large systems functioning perfectly.

Relay Sockets with a Miniature Switching Relay (788 Series)

The 788 Series Relays are ideal for switching applications in industry and process automation. These relay modules can be used either for two-channel operation or for safe switching of high loads up to 16 A (e.g., lamp loads).

Your Benefits:

  • Easily replace the elementary relay in the event of a fault
  • Compact housing: just 15 mm (0.590 inch) wide
  • Commoning options on the control and load side
  • Push-in CAGE CLAMP® termination without additional tools

Relay Modules with Miniature Switching Relays and Optocoupler Modules (859 Series)

The 859 Series Relay Modules with miniature switching relays and optocoupler modules are ideal for interface levels in all industrial applications. Their slim design saves you space in the control cabinet. Simple commoning on the control and load side also allows you to quickly daisy-chain common input and output potentials.

Your Benefits:

  • Versatility: relay modules for DC and AC use
  • Slim 6 mm (0.236 inch) housing saves space
  • Flat design for optimal use in terminal boxes
  • Jumper slots on the front for clearly organized cross-connections
  • LED for status signal indication
  • Proven CAGE CLAMP® connection technology

Pluggable Relay Modules (2042 Series)

The 2042 Series Relay Modules plug directly onto the carrier terminal blocks from the WAGO TOPJOB® S Rail-Mount Terminal Block System for easy and secure installation. The combination of rail-mount terminal blocks and relay modules eliminates the need for an additional wiring interface.
Incredibly robust, these modules withstand high vibration and shock loads. For example, they meet the requirements of the DIN EN 61373 (vibration and shock) and DIN EN 50121-3-2 (EMC) railway standards.

Your Benefits:

  • Can be plugged onto WAGO TOPJOB® S Rail-Mount Terminal Blocks
  • Input voltage range from 16.8 V to 253 V
  • Use in a temperature range from −40 °C to +70 °C
  • Ideal for railway and industrial applications, thanks to EN 50155 and EN 61010 (safety regulations for electronic devices)

Mounting Carriers with Miniature Switching Relays (287/288 Series)

The fully wired 287/288 Series Mounting Carriers with miniature switching relays allow direct switching of actuators and other coupling elements in the field. They also enable quick and easy connection of peripheral signals.

Your Benefits:

  • Swift, simple connection of peripheral signals
  • Pluggable relays for quick and easy replacement
  • Easy termination of conductors from 0.08 to 2.5 mm2 (28–14 AWG)

Relay Modules in a DIN-Rail-Mount Enclosure
(789 Series)

The 789 Series’ applications range from simple lighting control in building installations to installations in industrial control cabinets. The 17.5 mm (0.689 inch) wide design in a DIN-rail-mount enclosure is particularly well-suited to installation in distribution cabinets and meter boards.

Your Benefits:

  • Up to two break contacts and two make contacts, or four make contacts
  • Available with manual override
  • Each level can be commoned using push-in jumpers
  • Clearly identified connection points
  • LED indicates switching position

New Product

Maximize Space in the Control Cabinet

New Solid-State Relay Module with Lower Power Loss at Higher Load Current

Making the best possible use of the limited space available is essential in control cabinet manufacturing. The new solid-state relay module (SSR module) can help: It switches a limiting continuous current up to 8 A. Due to its low power loss, it generates significantly less heat. This makes it possible to achieve high-density wiring – i.e., a larger number of switching elements – within a control cabinet with the same total power loss.

SSR modules are suitable for applications where a coupling level is required between the PLC and the load that is to be switched. Since they operate without moving parts, there is no mechanical wear. As a result, they offer a long service life, switch silently and are insensitive to shock and vibration. WAGO’s SSR modules use sockets that are pin-compatible with standard relays, making it very easy to replace a relay.

The Benefits for You:

  • New SSR module now switches loads up to 8 A.
  • Lower power loss reduces heat generation and allows higher-density wiring
