In October 1990, WAGO rented the former social services building from Kali Südharz AG and began production in Sondershausen with six employees. The first section of a new company building – with an area of 60,000 m² – opened in October 1993 in the Hanleite commercial area, with a workforce that had grown to 150 employees. Today over 1,000 employees work here, making us the largest employer in northern Thuringia.
The total area of the property on Waldstrasse is 117,000 m². After a total of seven construction phases, the plant currently covers an area of more than 43,000 m².The logistics center, initially constructed in 1999 and expanded for the first time in 2003, is of special significance. In 2015 alone, more than nine million euros were invested in the expansion, increasing the capacity by nearly 50 percent. Today WAGO ships some 3,000 orders per day to end customers throughout Europe and WAGO companies around the world.
