Les exigences relatives aux équipements électriques pour les zones potentiellement explosives sont très complexes : les réglementations, directives et normes nationales et internationales doivent être respectées afin de garantir une sécurité maximale. Nous vous donnons un aperçu des principales réglementations et recommandations légales, comme la directive ATEX.


Tous les matériels qui sont mis en circulation dans l'Union Européenne doivent remplir les exigences de la directive harmonisée ATEX. L'abréviation ATEX dérive du français : « ATmosphère EXplosive ».

ATEX − directive européenne, reconnue dans le monde entier

La directive ATEX s'applique à tous les produits qui sont utilisés en milieux à risques d'explosion et est obligatoire pour tous les états membres EU. Elle comprend la directive fabricant ATEX 2014/34/EU et la directive exploitation ATEX 1999/92/EG (ATEX 137). La directive ATEX est rédigée par la « Direction générale des entreprises et de l'industrie de la Commission européenne », ses États membres, l'industrie européenne, le CEN et le CENELEC et les organismes notifiés tels que BAM, PTB et TÜV.

La directive produits vise les fabricants et réglemente la mise sur le marché de produits utilisés dans des atmosphères potentiellement explosives. L'objectif de cette directive est de protéger les personnes travaillant ou séjournant dans des atmosphères potentiellement explosives. Les exigences de base en matière de santé et de sécurité qui y sont énumérées doivent être respectées par le fabricant et démontrées par la procédure d'évaluation de la conformité avec la déclaration de conformité CE et la marque CE. Dans le cas de la directive d'exploitation 1999/92/EG par contre, l'accent est mis sur les travailleurs qui pourraient être mis en danger par des atmosphères explosives. La directive contient des exigences de sécurité et des mesures de protection importantes que l'exploitant ou l'employeur doit mettre en œuvre.

IECEx – libre circulation des marchandises dans le monde entier

IECEx est une procédure internationale de certification de matériels utilisés en milieux à risques d'explosion. L'objectif du schéma IECEx est l'harmonisation des normes Ex nationales et internationales. Ce faisant, le marché mondial de matériels pour applications à risques d'explosion est simplifié, sans renoncer à la directive ATEX de niveau de sécurité élevé. Les matériels certifiés selon IECEx sont reconnus dans le monde entier par des normes, tests et marques de contrôle harmonisés au niveau international. Avec la mondialisation croissante, les certifications selon IECEx sont de plus en plus plébiscitées.

NEC/CEC

En Amérique du Nord, les techniques et les systèmes ont évolué dans le domaine de la protection contre les explosions des équipements électriques et des installations qui diffèrent considérablement de la technologie CEI. Aux États-Unis, la NEC s'applique et au Canada la CEC Les différences résident entre autres dans la classification des zones dangereuses, la conception des équipements et l'installation des équipements électriques. L'équipement et les installations électriques utilisés dans des milieux à risques d'explosion sont soumis au « National Electrical Code » (NEC) ou au Canada au « Canadian Electrical Code » (CEC). Ces derniers ont le caractère des directives d'installation pour les installations électriques dans tous les domaines et se réfèrent à un certain nombre d'autres normes d'autres institutions, qui contiennent les dispositions pour l'installation et la construction d'équipements appropriés.

Les méthodes d'installation pour le concept de zones selon la NEC 505 correspondent en grande partie au système de classe/division. Diverses normes et réglementations s'appliquent à la construction et à l'essai de matériel et d'installations électriques antidéflagrants en Amérique du Nord. Aux États-Unis, ce sont principalement les normes de Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), Factory Mutual Research Corporation (FM) et la International Society for Measurement and Control (ISA). Au Canada cependant, celui de l'Association canadienne de normalisation (CSA). Les milieux à risques d'explosion sont appelés « hazardous locations » en Amérique du Nord et sont décrites aux États-Unis aux sections 500 et 505 du « National Electrical Code » (NEC) et au Canada à la section 18 et à l'annexe J du « Canadian Electrical Code » (CCE). ,

Les zones où des gaz, des vapeurs ou des brouillards inflammables se produisent sont caractérisées par la Classe I, celles où les poussières se produisent par la Classe II ou celles où des fibres et des peluches se produisent, par la Classe III. La fréquence et la durée d'apparition de ces substances définissent les milieux à risques d'explosions comme Division 1 ou Division 2. Depuis 1996, pour la Classe I, en plus du système existant, a été acceptée la classification commune en zones conformément au standard CEI. Cette modification résulte de l'article 505 du NEC. Au Canada, le concept de zones CEI de classe I a été introduit avec l'édition CEC de 1988 ; toutes les nouvelles installations doivent être classées selon ce concept.

UL

Les « Underwriters Laboratories » sont une organisation indépendante qui contrôle des produits sur leur sécurité selon des exigences de sécurité de produits US applicables. Le marquage UL se distingue de la certification CEI qui fixe seulement les spécifications minimales d'un appareil. Le centre « Underwriters Laboratories » dispose d'exigences de sécurité sévères qui, en fonction de la norme, intègre aussi par ex. dans le contrôle la fabrication du produit. C'est pourquoi les plaquettes de contrôle UL profitent dans le monde entier d'une meilleure acceptation. Non seulement en Europe, mais aussi aux États-Unis, au Canada et en Asie, par exemple, les opportunités d'exportation pour les produits certifiés UL augmentent.

1999/92EG, BetrSichV et ProdSV

Généralités

Les exigences de la directive 1999/92/CE sont des exigences minimales qui doivent être transposées par les États membres en droit national. Les États membres peuvent également renforcer les exigences. En Allemagne, la directive est transposée par deux ordonnances (ordonnance sur la protection contre les explosions ExVO et directive de sécurité d'exploitation BetrSichV).

France

Les directives d'exploitation pour la protection contre les explosions sont définies dans l'ordonnance allemande sur la sécurité et la santé au travail depuis le 1er janvier 2003 (BetrSichV). Il régule le montage, l'installation et l'exploitation des installations dans des milieux à risques d'explosion. Seuls les appareils conformes à la directive du fabricant ATEX 2014/34/EU peuvent être utilisés.

La mise sur le marché d'équipements et de systèmes de protection destinés à être utilisés dans des milieux à risques d'explosion est régie par l'Ordonnance sur la protection contre les explosions (ExVO).
