Groupes d'appareils pour plus de sécurité

Tout comme les appareils, les gaz, les vapeurs et les poussières sont divisés en différents groupes selon leurs propriétés. Cette classification simplifie la sélection correcte des dispositifs pour les différents gaz, vapeurs ou poussières.

Jusqu'à l'introduction de l'EN 60079-0: 2009, les appareils approuvés pour une utilisation dans des atmosphères potentiellement explosives ont été divisés en deux groupes. Depuis leur entrée en vigueur, il y en a trois : groupe 1, 2 et 3.

Classification des groupes d'appareils

Groupe I : appareils exposés au risque de grisou
Groupe II : appareils utilisés dans les milieux à risque d'explosion dû au gaz (pas les mines)
Groupe III : appareils utilisés dans les zones avec de la poussière combustible (pas les mines)

Les appareils électriques du groupe II sont également subdivisés en sous-groupes IIA, IIB et IIC, selon la nature de l'atmosphère explosive. Cette affectation s'applique aux types de protection enveloppe antidéflagrante (Ex d) et sécurité intrinsèque (Ex i).

Les appareils pour les zones contenant des poussières combustibles sont également répartis dans les groupes suivants en fonction du type de poussière :

Si une atmosphère potentiellement explosive ne peut pas être évitée dans une zone de travail, la protection secondaire contre les explosions prend tout son sens. Cela signifie la prévention de toute source d'étincelle dans la zone Ex.
