XTR – our abbreviation stands for extreme protection against climatic influences, vibration, impacts and surge voltages. These conditions occur primarily in places in which technology is exposed to weather conditions. The automation systems used in these sectors often require additional space-consuming and expensive protection features for the switch/control cabinets that withstand climatic and mechanical forces. The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR does not require any additional measures in these conditions, and it also offers outstanding features such as an extended temperature range from −40 to +70°C (−40 … +158°F).

Extremely Broad Ambient Temperature Range

With an ambient operating temperature ranging from a continuously ice cold −40°C up to a sweltering +70°C (−40 … +158°F), WAGO's remote 750 XTR I/O System does not require air conditioning, enabling global usage at the lowest cost – even in the most restricted spaces. Reliability that inspires!

High Mechanical Performance

Automation systems must be particularly vibration-resistant, especially when installed close to vibration-prone and shock-generating system components. Powerful motors and power circuit breakers are just two examples from a wide range of applications that can stress automation systems. The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR also sets new standards: With 5g of vibration resistance up to an acceleration of 50 m/s⊃2; per DIN EN 60068-2-6 and shock resistance of 15g (150 m/s⊃2;), as well as 25g (250 m/s⊃2;) of continuous shock resistance per IEC 60068-2-27, the system is engineered for dependability – no matter what. Count on long-lasting, trouble-free operation and industry-topping levels of safety – even in the most severe applications, such as tunnel boring machines.

Additional Protection Against Interference Pulses

WAGO's remote 750 XTR I/O System provides greater isolation up to 5 kV of impulse voltage, lower EMC emission of interference and higher insensitivity to EMC interference. These strengths add up to trouble-free operation. Within an application, the 750 XTR Series seamlessly communicates with other parts of the system, without creating interference or disrupting other system components. This ensures successful communication and reliability you can trust.

Maximum Fieldbus Independence

Fieldbus couplers connect the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR to a higher-level control system. The couplers support popular fieldbus protocols such as PROFIBUS, CANopen and ETHERNET standards. This I/O system is a perfectly matched system that can be integrated into the scalable control solutions of both 750 XTR and PFC200 XTR Controllers. WAGO's e!COCKPIT (CODESYS V3) and WAGO-I/O-PRO (CODESYS V2) engineering environments are available for configuration, programming, diagnostics and visualization.

Maximum Flexibility

Another highlight of WAGO's wide range of I/O modules for use in extreme environments is their compact dimensions: With up to sixteen channels in a width of just 12 mm (0.472 inch), these modules save plenty of space in the control cabinet without restricting applications in any way. 750 XTR is also the perfect solution for applications in the renewable energy sector (wind power, photovoltaic and biogas plants), for transformer stations and power distribution (feed-in management and energy network monitoring) or ship building, onshore/offshore industry and rail applications.

Intrinsically Safe Signal Acquisition

Thanks to its ATEX/IECEx approvals, the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR can be used both outside of hazardous areas and within Zone 2/22 inside an approved enclosure. In addition to standard signals from sensors and actuators in Zone 2/22, intrinsically safe sensors and actuators in Zones 0/20 and 1/21 can also be integrated via the I/O modules in the blue housings. This combination of intrinsic safety requirements with resistance to extreme environments makes the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 XTR invaluable for oil and gas industry systems in the upstream (extraction, processing) and downstream sectors (transport, refining), as well as outdoor systems exposed to extreme temperature cycling.

For Robust Connections in Railway Applications: WAGO 750 XTR I/O System Now with M12 Connections

Temperature fluctuations, shocks and vibrations – automation technology for railway applications must be safe and reliable under the most extreme conditions. WAGO has streamlined its industry-proven WAGO 750 XTR I/O System for extreme environments – particularly railway applications. As part of this change, both the PFC200 XTR Controllers and Modbus TCP XTR/ETHERNET/IP XTR Fieldbus Couplers are now being upgraded for even higher performance. Leading a host of enhancements on both devices are particularly robust M12 connectors that replace previously standard RJ-45 connectors.

Secure Protection against Dirt and Moisture

“These connectors meet tough requirements – especially those found in the railway industry,” says Manfred Kühme, the 750 XTR I/O System product manager. M12 plugs have high mechanical strength and, when plugged in, are resistant to dirt and moisture. At the same time, they ensure safe and reliable contact for error-free data transmission. In contrast to RJ-45 plugs, they are not only plugged in, but screwed into the socket in a way that makes them vibration-proof. “That's the more reliable connection type for the heavy and stiff ETHERNET cables used in railway applications,” adds Kühme.
