Your Benefits with WAGO Switches

  • Availability, Redundancy
WAGO’s industrial switches feature a redundant power supply and switchable ring redundancy providing uninterruptible data communication. With a short recovery time of under 20 ms, the Xpress Ring increases your process reliability. The productivity and network availability of your machines and systems is always ensured. In addition to communication link redundancy, a redundant power supply – which can also be monitored using an alarm relay – is integrated into the switches. Even if the power supply fails, communication is not interrupted.
  • Advanced Security Functions
The managed switches support comprehensive security functions (e.g., MAC Limitation, Port Security). This provides additional data flow control and system protection against cyberattacks via authentication per IEEE 802.1x, IGMP Snooping and broadcast and bandwidth limitation.
  • Modular and Expandable
Exchangeable SPF modules adapt switches to various fiber optic cables (FOC) and the associated required distances and fibers. There are SFP modules for multimode and single-mode fiber optic cables for ranges up to 80 km. With the exact combination of copper and fiber optic cables, you are prepared for a multitude of requirements.
  • Integrated Function Monitoring
For monitoring and error reporting, the managed switch has configurable functions such as e-mail alarm and SNMP traps. In addition, all switches (except for ECO versions) can monitor individual ports or the power supply via potential-free alarm contact. A DIP switch is used to configure this function.
  • Different Operating Modes
The unmanaged switches are ideal for direct plug-and-play use. Managed switches are available for applications where IP filtering or further interpretation of telegrams is required for the application.
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE+)
Power supply and data transfer via ETHERNET cable: Power-over-Ethernet (PoE+) eliminates the separate power connection for devices connected to the switches via the IP network.

Cybersecurity Right in the Switch

New Industrial Managed Switch with Integrated Encryption

Cybersecurity is an important trend in building automation (BA). With WAGO’s new industrial managed switches, users can easily increase the security of their BA applications. This innovation integrates cybersecurity functions: Data packets are protected with 128-bit encryption on two ports. This makes it possible to integrate secure data transmission into an existing network – regardless of the protocol and without changes in the application.

The encryption meets the IEEE 802.1AE standard (IEEE MAC Security Standard), ensuring data integrity and authentication of the transmitter alongside high data throughput. The optional authentication of other participants in the network is port-specific in accordance with IEEE 802.1X and RADIUS server. Due to their compact geometry (45 x 90 x 110 mm), the new 8-port gigabit switches can be easily retrofitted in the control cabinet. Each switch is equipped with two ports for encrypted communication. For WAGO’s 852-1328 Industrial Managed Switch, SFP modules are used for secure communication. This also enables secure networking of distant buildings with optical fibers. Configuration and diagnostics of the industrial managed switches are also performed securely using a Web browser or SNMPv3.

The Benefits for You:

  • Industrial managed switches with hardware-related encryption (Mac security)
  • Retrofit secure data transmission into existing networks
  • Authentication in the network
