What Makes the PFC200 Controller Successful

PFC200 with integrated cellular modem

The PFC200 Controller is a compact PLC for the modular WAGO-I/O-System. Along with network and fieldbus interfaces, this controller supports all digital and analog input/output modules, as well as specialty modules found within our 750/753 Series. This controller comes equipped with two ETHERNET interfaces and an integrated switch to enable line topology wiring. The integrated cellular modem provides a wireless connection to the Internet and includes a radio licensed for North American countries. An integrated Webserver provides user configuration options while at the same time displaying PFC200 status information. The PFC200 is primarily used for standard machinery and equipment control, but also may be used for building automation as well as the process industry for decentralized data logging.

The 750-8217/600-000 can operate in temperatures of 32° F to 130° F. The 750-8217/625-000 can work in extended temperatures of -4° F to +140° F. Both versions are certified for use in the USA and Canada.

These products are Linux based and now have the ability to run AWS’s Greengrass Core service, enabling deployment of custom Lambda functions to the Edge device for scaleable IIoT applications.

AWS is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and application program interfaces to individuals, companies, and governments on a pay-as-you-go basis. AWS Greengrass is a service that extends AWS functionality to Internet of Things (IoT) devices, allowing data collection and analysis closer to its origin. It also provides cloud-based management of application logic that runs on devices.

The PFC200 Controller satisfies the requirements of traditional engineering disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, while tackling the toughest technical demands of newer fields including power supply and the on/offshore industries.

Easy Familiarization, Easy Switchover from Other Programming Languages

Incorporating the well-established CODESYS industrial standard makes startup even faster. Besides standardized IEC 61131 programming languages (IL, LL, FBD, ST, FC and CFC), ambitious users can also write their projects in C/C++, PHP or shell scripts. Programs and libraries created in any type of programming language are compatible with CODESYS applications.

Large Memory, Fast Processor and Numerous Communication Interfaces

The features are impressive: Despite its compact size, WAGO's programmable logical controller (PLC) carries all the vital interfaces and even includes two RJ-45 and RS-232/RS-485 ports – depending on the version you select. For ultimate in versatility, the ETHERNET interfaces can be configured independently, meaning two separate networks can be configured with the PLC. The two ETHERNET ports can function as an ETHERNET switch to create a line topology. The SD card slot provides additional functionality, such as allowing large image files to be stored on an SD card for Web visualization.

The Generation 2 PFC200 accommodates a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, flanked by 512 MB RAM for exceptionally fast operating speeds. The large, 4 GB of internal FLASH memory also provides reserves for complex control tasks.

Fast Fieldbus Configuration

The CANopen, PROFIBUS DP, EtherNet/IP and MODBUS TCP/UDP/RTU protocols provide a flexible connection to fieldbus systems and external input/output devices. Fieldbus systems can be configured directly in WAGO's easy-to-use e!COCKPIT development environment. The ETHERNET interfaces also support all common protocols such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, FTP and HTTP. A secure connection is provided via SSH, HTTPS and FTPS.

Security Built-in

Help secure your plant floor network and IIoT applications with the PFC200s Built-in Firewall and VPN capabilities. Enabling the onboard firewall allows you to set up a whitelist of approved connections as well as control port communications. In addition, a VPN tunnel can be used to connect the controller to networks and transmit all encrypted data via SSL and TLS, helping to protect data from unauthorized access. Easily configure the Firewall and VPN via your web browser connected to the controllers’ Web-Based Management.

Telecontrol Protocols

Be perfectly prepared for future energy market requirements. Select WAGO telecontrollers support the IEC 60870-5-101, -103 and -104, as well as 61850-7, 61400-25 and DNP3 protocols for wireless (GPRS) or wired (via ETHERNET) connection to the control system.
